Help Denver keep our streets, alleys and gutters clean and make the “cleanest sweep” possible by:

  • • Trimming low hanging branches on your street so the sweepers can fit under the trees.
  • • Removing items from the gutter, like big rocks or branches, on street sweeping days.
  • • Setting your trash and recycling bins off the street onto the apron of your driveway or back to the curb as close to the street as possible (not on the sidewalk).

Fun facts about our sweeping program:

  • • We have 26 street sweepers and 12 dump trucks.
  • • The sweepers work by misting water on the street while rotating brooms sweep debris and dust up into the hopper. When the hopper is full, the contents are transferred to a dump truck to be taken to the landfill.
  • • The sweeper itself weighs over seven tons and the hopper holds an average of three cubic yards of debris.
  • • Over one year the sweepers remove enough dirt from Denver streets to fill Coors Field seven to nine feet deep!
